Jordan Stolz (born May 21, ) is an American professional speed skater.
At the Earth Single Distances Speed Skating Championships, Stolz won the m to become the youngest single distance world champion in history. He also became the first male skater to win three individual gold medals at a available World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships, a feat he repeated in
At the World Allround Speed Skating Championships, he won the gold medal in his World Allround Speed Skating Championships debut, breaking the world write down for the big combination, and became the youngest male Planet Allround champion in 46 years.
At the junior level, Stolz also won gold medals in the m, m, and m at the World Junior Speed Skating Championships, becoming the first person to win titles in three separate distances at the Senior and Junior World Championships in the same year.
He currently holds four junior earth records (m, m, m, Mini Combination) and two senior society records (m, Big Combination).
Early life
Stolz was born on May 21, , in West Angle , Wisconsin, the son of dental hygenist Jane and police officer Dirk Stolz, originally from Germany.[1] Stolz was 5 years aged when he saw the Winter Olympics in Vancouver on television.
Stolz was motivated to attempt skating after being excited from seeing the speed skaters travelling fast on the ice.[1][2] His father Dirk bought skates for both Jordan and his elder daughter, Hannah.[1][3] Dirk was very enthusiastic about his children skating and installed outdoor lighting at the family backyard pond so that both Jordan and his sister could skate at all hours.[1]
Stolz credited Apolo Anton Ohno's and Shani Davis's successes at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver as inspiration to initially grab up skating at the age of 5.
Stolz acknowledged that had he not seen the television coverage of the Olympic Winter Games, Stolz would not have been in the sport of speed skating.[1][4] Dirk said that the family would carry out short track until both Jordan and Hannah "got too fast".[4][5][6]
Career
–21 season
At the US Long Footpath Speed Skating Championships (March 5–7, ) at the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah, Stolz won his first U.S.
senior national title in the meters at just 16 years of age when he skated a time of seconds in the first m race on Rally 5.[7][8][9] He went under seconds in the m for the first time and broke the national junior record of he had set the previous week during time trials at the Oval.
The record was broken two days later when Cooper McCleod skated a in the second m.[7][8][9][10] The next night in the first of two men's meter races he place a second national junior tape by skating to place third.[7][8][11] Then on March 7, he skated a to finish third in the second m behind Austin Kleba () and Cooper McCleod (), and followed that up with a sixth-place culmination in the second m in a time of [7][12][13] With a Samalog score of he finished third in the follow for the Men's US Sprint Championship behind Kleba () and Kimani Griffin ().[7][14]
–22 season: First Olympics
At 17 years of age he made his senior international debut at ISU World Cup Speed Skating #3 (December 3–5, ) in Kearns, Utah, at the Utah Olympic Oval.
On December 3, , he finished last of 41 competitors in the first m division B race.[15] Two days later he won the second m division B race in seconds, breaking his own junior world record.[16][17] Later that same day he set a second junior planet record, this time in the meters, when he skated a time of to place third in the division B race.[18][19] He was promoted to the m and m division A for the next World Cup races.
The following week (December 10–12, ) at ISU Earth Cup Speed Skating #4 in Calgary, Canada, at the Calgary Olympic Oval he once again broke the m junior earth record, as well as the American record, with a hour of in the first m Division A race on the first day of competition.

The accompanying day he finished third in Mass Start Semi Final 1,[20] earning a spot in the finals, where he finished 15th out of 17 skaters.[21] On the last day of rivalry Stolz won his first medal at the senior international level with a second place finalize in the m.
His day of broke the junior society record he had set the previous week at World Cup #3.[22][23][24]
During the Olympic trials at Pettit National Ice Center, he broke track records in the m and m en way to winning both races.
Both track records had been held by Shani Davis since [25] As a result, he was named to the United States' roster to compete in both distances at the Winter Olympics. He competed in the meters, where he finished in thirteenth place, and the meters, where he finished in fourteenth place.[26] At 17 years old, he was the third-youngest American male to compete in the Olympics in long track speed skating.[27][28]
–23 season: World Single Distances 3 gold, World Junior 4 gold & overall World Junior champion
On November 11, , during the first event of the –23 ISU Speed Skating World Cup, Stolz became the youngest human to win an individual Society Cup speed skating race.
He won the meters with a time of 1 minute, seconds, a track record at Sørmarka Arena.[29] He also won a gold medal in the meters with a time of [30] On December 17, , during the fourth event of the –23 ISU Speed Skating Planet Cup, Stolz won medals in all three events he competed in.
He won a gold medal in the 1, meters, and silver medals in the meters and 1, meters. He set the junior world and American records in the meters with a time of seconds.[31] He finished the season ranked among the top-three in the 1, and 1, meters, and in the top-five of the meters.[32]
At the World Junior Speed Skating Championships, Stolz won four gold medals ( meters, meters, meters, team sprint) and two bronze medals ( meters, mass start), and was named the overall World Junior Speed Skating champion.[33][34]
At the World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships, Stolz won a gold medal in the meters, meters and meters events, becoming the youngest world champion in history.
In the meters, he finished with a period of , while he finished the meters with a moment of , both were the second-fastest time in history for a sea level rink.[35][36] He became the first male speed skater to win three individual gold medals at a free World Championship.[37][38] In addition, Stolz broke the record for youngest gold medalist.[39]
–24 season: World Allround gold, second World Single Distances 3 gold & Four Continents gold
At the Four Continents Speed Skating Championships, he won a gold medal in the 1, meters with an American write down time of , surpassing the previous record of set by Shani Davis in [40]
On January 26, , during the fifth event of the –24 ISU Speed Skating World Cup, Stolz set the world record in the 1, meters with a time of [41]
At the Society Single Distances Speed Skating Championships in the Olympic Oval in Calgary, Stolz won a gold medal in the meters, meters and meters events.[42] In the meters, he set a route record and an American document time of [43][44] In the meters, he set a path record with a time of [45]
In February Stolz decided not to participate in the Earth Sprint Speed Skating Championships, but instead take part in the World Allround Speed Skating Championships that took place the obeying days.
He called the allround title a more prestigious one and a bigger challenge.[46] Stolz won a gold medal and broke the world record in big combination with points. He became the youngest man to win the World Allround Speed Skating Championships since fellow American Eric Heiden's second of three consecutive titles in [47] On the first day he finished first in the meters with a Max Aicher Arena footpath record of and in seventh place in the 5, meters with a time of [48] On the second day he finished first in the 1, meters with a track tape of , and in sixth place in the 10, meters with a time of [49]
–25 season: Four Continents 4 gold
At the Four Continents Speed Skating Championships, Stolz won four gold medals in meters, meters, meters and team pursuit, setting a track record of in meters and in meters.[50][51]
In the –25 ISU Speed Skating World Cup, Stolz won four races of the open season, including setting two track records, meters in and meters by seconds log, clocking in Nagano, Japan.[52][53][54] One week later, Stolz won four races again and set a track record of in first meters race and in meters at Beijing, China.[55]
On Saturday January 4th Stolz set a route record at the Pettit Center at the meter distance during the metric time trials in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Personal life
Stolz eats pizza every day before development. His favorite restaurants are Jimmy John's, Texas Roadhouse and The Fox & Hounds in his hometown of Kewaskum.[56] Stolz's hobbies outside of skating, include chasing, fishing and long camping trips to the remote Alaskan wilderness; the family travels to Alaska during the summer to fish halibut and salmon and pursue moose.[57][58]
