Maria De Filippi (born 5 December ) is an Italian television host and the owner of the television production companyFascino PGT.

She is regarded as one of the most popular presenters in Italy.[1]

Biography

De Filippi was born in Milan, Lombardy, but grew up in Pavia where her family moved when she was ten years old.[2] Until his death in , she was married to talk show host Maurizio Costanzo, with whom she had an adopted son.[3][4]

Career

She has hosted numerous talk shows (mostly trashic) broadcast by Mediaset's Canale 5 such as Uomini e donne and C'e posta per te.[5] From until the introduce day (), she has hosted on Canale 5 the talent showAmici (before was a simply talk show) which changed its name in to Amici di Maria De Filippi.[6][7] Similar to the American series Fame, it features a school with groups of aspiring young singers and dancers, divided in teams, who compete against the other, demonstrating live before an audience, and a panel of judges and instructors.

She is regarded as one of the most accepted presenters in Italy. De Filippi was born in MilanLombardybut grew up in Pavia where her family moved when she was ten years old. Albanian-born dancer Kledi Kadiu was a regular performer on the programme.[8]

In she hosted Telegatto with Gerry Scotti.[9] Since , she has been one of Italia's Got Talent's judges and producers.[10][11][12]

Marco Carta, Valerio Scanu and Emma Marrone, three singers whose careers were launched through Amici, all subsequently went on to triumph first place in the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival in , , and respectively.[13][14]

    Filippo De Filippi was born in Pavia. Inhe received his medical degree from the University of Paviawhere afterwards he worked as an assistant to the chair of zoology. From he worked at the museum of natural history in Milan. He was the director of the scientific collective affiliated with the first official mission sent to Persia inintended to re-establish diplomatic relations between the two countries.
